About Bharmour

Bharmour, also known as Brahmpura, used to be the ancient capital of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. Situated at an height of 7,000 feet in the Budhil valley, this place is known for two things: Mesmerising natural beauty and ancient temples. It is widely believed that some of these temples are dated back to the 10th century AD. According to Hindu Mythology, the area around this place belong to Lord Shiva, so this place is also knwon Shiv Bhumi (abode of Lord Shiva).

How to reach

By Road : Chamba happens to be the district headquarters of this region. It is located 64 kilometers away. Camba is well connected with other parts of North India. 
By Rail : Pathankot Cantonment is the nearest railway statio located around 178 kilometers away. Buses and cabs are available from the station.
By Air : Nearest airport is at Gaggal near Dharamshala, located 190 kilometers away. Cabs are available from here as well.

  • Tourists are advised to visit this place during summer. Winters are harsh around here and during monsoon, the area gets more than a 1000 mm of rainfall.

  • Chaurasi Temple : It is located right in the center of the town and is believed to be more than 1000 years old. It is a temple complex and houses 84 individual temples. 
    Bharmani Mata Temple Complex : This complex is located 4 kilometers away from Bharmour and is dedicated to godess Bharami mata, who happens to be one of the avatars of Durga Maa.
