About Deotamura

Deotamura is a sacred place located on the banks of the river Gomati. The word 'devtamura' or 'deotamura' means the peak of the gods. Various images of Indian gods and goddesses like Shiva, Durga, Kali, and Vishnu are carved on the hills amongst others. There are total 37 carved hills around the sides of the river that dates back to the 15th and 16th century that adds to the beauty of the lush green surroundings.

How to reach

By Road : Taking a bus from Udaipur, reaching Rangamati and then taking a boat from there to Deotamura, which is across the river Gomati.
By Rail : The nearest rail route is the Lumding-Agartala division, which is connected with all parts of the country, from where one has to reach Udaipur.  
By Air : The nearest Airport is in Agartala.

  • Summers are hot and humid here, so it is advisable to visit this place in the winters.

  • The nearest town is Udaipur where several small restaurants offer delectable Chinese, Thai, Indian and street foods are also available.

  • The nearby attractions can be seen in Agartala which is not very far from Deotamura. Kunjaban palace, Ujjayanta palace, Gedu Mia’s Mosque are some of the famous places of interest here.

  • - There’s boating facility in the river Gomati to enjoy the viewing of the surrounding hills and the greenery. Handloom products, bamboo products can be bought from the local shops in Agartala.
