About Fagu

Fagu is a small Himalayan hamlet, which is located 22 kilometres from Shimla and lies close to the Hindustan Tibet Road. Fagu happens to be one of the highest areas in the whole of Himachal Pradesh and it enjoys a cool weather even during the summers. The winters are quite chilly out here. It receives moderate to heavy snowfall during the months of January to March. Tourists mostly visit this place in order to enjoy the snowfall in this region.

How to reach

By Road : Shimla is the nearest town and staging area for those who wish to visit Fagu. Tourists from major cities like- Delhi and Chandigarh can easily reach this place.
By Rail : Shimla is the nearest railway station located around 18 kilometres away. Shoghi is another station located 35 kilometres away. 
By Air : nearest airport is at Gaggal. Also tourists can travel to this place from Kullu airport. Cabs are easily available from both the places.

  • The best time to visit this place is from March to July and from October to November. During monsoon, this area receives heavy rainfall.

  • A number of good eateries are there that serves quality food, drinks and beverages. Green tea, herbal tea, cakes are some of the things that you must try out here.

  • Kufri : This place is located 14 kilometres away from Fagu and is popular for activities like- Skiing and photography. 
    Banthia Devta Temple : This temple is dedicated to the local god of Fagu. This temple houses the idol of the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu, the ten headed Ravana and Mahishamardini. 
    Teog Town : theog is small town located 10 kilometres away from Fagu. This town is well known for its markets, however, the beauty of this town, surrounded by hills is also appealing.

  • - Fagu is the ideal place to beat the extreme heat fo the summer. The cool atmosphere of this place is the reson why if gets the maximum number of tourists during the months of May, June and July. 
    - There are a number of good markets in and around Fagu. These markets sell items of handicrafts and paintings. Tourists can collect some souvinirs before leaving this place.
