About Gushaini

Gushaini is a small, scenic and a pristine town located in the Tirthan Valley, along the foothills of the Himalayas. This small town falls within the administrative jurisdiction of Kullu district. Situated at an altitude of 4,500 feet, this place is famous for its groves and forests. Also, this place is known for trout fishing. A number of small villages are there around this place, such as- Nagini, Chalogi, Mungla and many more. The climate of this place along with it’s natural surrounding attract a lot of people to this region.

How to reach

By Road : Kullu is the nearest place from where one can avail a ride. Apart from that, tourists can also hire buses and cabs from cities like- Chandigarh, Shimla and Manali. 
By Rail : Nearest railway station is at Chandigarh, which is 280 kilometres away. Trains from almost all parts of the country do make a stop here. 
By Air : Nearest airport is at Kullu, 54 kilometres away. Regular flights are available from almost all the major airports.

  • When to visit
  • Owing to its temperate climate, the best time to visit this place is during the months of February and June and between September and November.

  • What to Eat
  • A number of good eateries and restaurants are there, which offers a number of dishes. The dishes made of fish are especially popular in this region.

  • Attractions
  • Gara Durga Temple : This temple is located close to Gushaini. It is having a distinct pahari style of architecture couple with folk art carvings. 
    Shinga Rishi Temple : It is a small, beautiful three tier wooden structure. Architecturally, this temple bears strong resemblance to Buddhist pagodas. 
    Dev Kanda Temple : This temple is situated at the top of the highest peak of this region. This temple offers a magnificent view of the valley below, and also of the forests around and the snow-clad peaks.

  • - Apart from fishing, this region is also known as the gateway to the Jawaharlal Nehru Great Himalayan National Park. So if you have ample time in your hands, then visiting this place won’t be a bad idea. 
    - This place is also suitable for adventure sports like- rafting, trekking, rock climbing and many more. Also one can enjoy a get together along the river bank on a moon-lit night.
