About Jakhoo Hill

Jakhoo Hill is an alpine-covered mountain top, which also happens to be the highest point in Shimla. At the top of the hill one can find the colourful Jakhoo Temple and also the newly constructed statue of Lord Hanuman. The summit of the Jakhoo Hill is at 2,455 metres and is accessible on foot. The summit is a nice and cool place to chill out. The abundance of alpine trees contribute heavily to the pleasant weather of this place.

How to reach

By Road : This place can be accessed from the Mall or the Ridge which is situated right in the centre of the city. 
By Rail : The nearest railway station is just 3 kilometres away from the Ridge. Other major railway stations are at Chandigarh and Pathankot.
By Air : Nearest airport is located 20 kilometres away. It connects this region with the rest of the country.

  • When to visit
  • Tourists can visit this place during the months of summer, During the winters, this place witness heavy snowfall. During the monsoons, the roads become risky.

  • What to Eat
  • Tourists are advised to carry adequate food while they are visiting the ridge. However, they must also carry a stick, because the way to the top is infested with monkeys, who snatch food from the tourists

  • Attractions
  • Jakhoo Temple : It is the main point of attraction here. The temple is situated at the top of the hill and is vividly colourful and attractive. 
    Hanuman Temple : This temple has been newly constructed and devotees from all parts of the country visit this temple just for a glimpse of the Lord Hanuman.

  • Activities
  •  - This place is predominantly visited by devotees and is largely considered as a place of worship. However, this place is also known for its exotic natural beauty and the alpine forests which is also ideal for forest safari.
    - There are a lot of places around here, which offers excellent scenery for a photo-shoot. From the top, the view of the town of Shimla below is simply fantastic.
