About Kailasagiri

Kailasagiri is a hilltop park in the city of Visakhapatnam in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The park was developed by the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) and comprises 380 acres (150 ha) of land covered with flora and tropical trees. The hill, at 360 feet (110 m), is surrounded by the two beautiful beaches Ramakrishna and Rishikonda on its left side and the hillock on its right side. The hill derives its name from Kailasa, the abode of Lord Shiva and Parvati. Two huge sculptures of the deities can be found in the hills.

How to reach

By Road : State and private buses are available from the nearest city of Visakhapatnam to reach Kailasagiri hills. National highways are also properly connected with other states of India with this port city. 
By Rail : Visakhapatnam is well connected with the other major cities and towns of India by proper railway network. 
By Air : The nearest airport is in Visakhapatnam. Visakhapatnam is well-connected by flights that come from Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi and other major cities of India.

  • The best time to visit Kailasagiri hills would be during the months of November to March, as winters here are comfortable and pleasant for a charming beach vacation.

  • Lord Shiva Parvathi statue is the major attraction of the park. The idol stands on top of the hill at an elevation of 40 ft.Besides the eye-catching and holy statues of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi,the hilltop also has many wonderful attractions like the Titanic viewpoint, Shanku-Chakra Namas of Lord Venkateswara, Gliding point, Jungle Trails, Manicured lawns, Art gallery & Children Park. The floral clock on Kailasagiri is one of the biggest in India with a diameter of 10 ft.

  • Activities
  • - One who visit the Kailasagiri must take tour on the Toy Train because the toy train travels around the park and offers a good view of the Kailasagiri Park and of the whole Bay of Bengal at Vizag.The Rope Way facility is also there for the tourists. The cable car route takes you to the top of the hill to have a bird eye view of the whole city.Moreover, among adventure games, it gives visitors really good paragliding facilities.
