About Karsog Valley

Karsog Valley is a small town, situated in the lap of the Lower Himalayas, at an altitude of 1,407 metres. This place is famous for its temples, in fact some of Himachal’s popular temples are situated here. It also finds mention even in the ancient scripts of Hindu Literatures. Also, this place has some beauty of its own. The apple orchards and the liveliness of the mountains augment its beauty. The environment here is absolutely pollution free, thanks to its widespread green vegetation.

How to reach

By Road : This place can be accessed from the town of Mandi. Regular buses are available from there. Buses are also available from Shimla, which is 100 kilometres away. 
By Rail : Railway stations are there at Shimla. From the station, one can hire a cab or board a bus to reach this place. 
By Air : Nearest airport is at Shimla. It connects this region with the rest of the country. From the terminus, one can hail a cab in order to reach this place.

  • Best time to visit this place is between February and July. During this time, the weather remains fabourable for outing and sight-seeing.

  • Here you can expect to find local cuisines and dishes. The hotels are quite good and offer reasonable prices.

  • Attractions
  • Kamakhya Devi Temple : This temple is situated in the Kao village and is built by the local villagers. It stands with its wooden superstructure and displays pagoda-style architecture. 
    Shri Mamleshwar Mahadev Temple : This temple is quite popular for its 81 Shiv Lingams and is widely believed to have been built by the Pandavas (legendary characters of The Mahabharata) during their exile. 
    Mahunag Temple : This temple also boasts of its connection to the Hindu Mythology. This temple is dedicated to Karna, who happens to be one of the chief antagonists of The Mahabharata. It is beived that whenever one lands into trouble, he is helped by Lord Karna.

  • Activities
  • - Tourists can also visit the adjoining Shikari Devi Temple. They can also opt for some moderate trekking activities. The valley offers some really nice picnic spots as well. 
    - This place combines spirituality with history. Here you can feel the peace and serenity in its air. If you are visiting Himachal for the first time, then you should visit this place at least once.
