About Kullu

Kullu is a broad valley formed by the river Beas between Manali and Largi. This place is famous for its temples, its majestic natural beauty, hills covered with pine and deodar and sprawling apple orchards. The name of this place derives from the term- “Kulant Peeth” which means- “end of the habitable world”. Since pre-historic days, this place has been a part of both Hindu and Buddhist culture and practices. Today, this place is a hot favourite with honey-moon goers and young travellers.


How to reach

By Road : Tourists can travel to Kullu from places like- Chandigarh and Delhi. Chandigarh is the nearest town located 233 kilometres away. Buses at regular intervals are available. 
By Rail : Joginder Nagar Railway Station is the nearest one located 125 kilometres away. Cabs and buses are available from here as well. 
By Air : Bhuntar airport is the nearest one which is barely 10 mionutes away. Cabs are available from the terminus.

  • When to visit
  • Tourists can visit this place throughout the year except during the monsoon. During the monsoon, the roads become dangerous and are prone to frequent landslides.

  • Eateries and restaurants are there in plenty. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes are available along with local cuisines.

  • Raghunath Temple : This temple is the olest temple in the valley and during the time of Dussera, this temple acquaires a different level of grandeur.
    Pandoh Dam : This man-made marvel located in the midst of nature is a great spot for feeling the chilled air and also take some beautiful photos of the mountains. 
    The Great Himalayan National Park : This park, established in 1984 is one of the largest national aprk in the valley and houses a variety of flora and fauna. 
    Parvati Valley Trek : It is considered to be one of the most difficult treks of Himachal Pradesh. Tha base camp for this trek is situated here and tourists goiong for this trek use Kullu as a staging area.Raghunath Temple- This temple is the olest temple in the valley and during the time of Dussera, this temple acquaires a different level of grandeur.

  • - Apart from trekking other adventure activities like- Rafting, rock climbing are quite popular here. Also, tourists can engage in fishing. River bEas is a perfect spot for fishing.
    - Kullu is a perfect place to escape the scorching heat of the plains. That’s why, this place receives the maximum number of tourists from the plains during the months of May, June and July.
