Mcleodganj is a small hill station near Dharamshala. Owing to its proximity to the Tibetan border, this place is also known as Little Lhasa and is home to the famous spiritual leader Dalai Lama. This small town has been blessed with the best of the natural beauty. Speaking from the cultural point of view. This place is also having a huge Tibetan influence and at some point of time, one might feel that he or she is standing somewhere in Tibet. This place boasts of one of the most magnifiscent landscapes in the whole of Himachal.


How to reach

By Road : Dharamshala is the main town located 9 kilometres away. Buses, cabs and motorised bikes are available for transportation. 
By Rail : Kangra Mandir is the nearest narrow-guage railway link located 25 kilometres away. Nearest broad-guage railway station is located 90 kilometres away at Pathankot. 
By Air : Nearest airport is at Gagaal, located 32 kilometres away. Taxis are easily available from the terminus.

  • The months between September and June is the best time to visit this place. The temperature during the summer is very pleasant and ideal for day-long outing.

  • Namgyal Monastery : Aart from being a religious place of interest, this monastery is also important from the scenic point of view, as it overlooks the Dhauladhar mountain range, This monastery is located within the Tsuglagkhang Complex, which is also the residence of Dalai Lama. 
    Tibetan Museum : Located within the Tsuglagkhang Complex, this museum exhibits an excellent collection of Tibetan artworks of superior quality. It includes historical documenyts, paintings, pottery and handicrafts. 
    Bhagsu Falls : Located amidst the pristine nature, this falls is also a site for many a romantic outing. This place is also a hot favourite with photographers. 
    Dal Lake : Don not confuse this with the Dal Lake of Kashmir. This small lake is located just 3 kilometres away from Mcleodganj and is named after the original Dal Lake of Kashmir. This lake is surrounded by trees of Deodar, Pine and Fir. 
    Apart from these, some other popular sites are- Naam Art Gallery, Nombulingka Institute, Bhagsunath Temple and many more.

  • - Triund is a popular site among trekkers and adventure seekers. This trek is situated at a great height and overlooks the Moon pEak-Indera Pass. This trek is meant for both the amateurs and the professionals. 
    - Tourists can enjoy and admire the natural beauty of this place which includes the lofty mountains and lush greenery. A number of good picnic spots are also located around here.
