About Pangi

Located in the upper part of the Chamba district, Pangi is a remote world in itself. Sandwiched between the Middle and the Greater Himalayas, this place remains landlocked due to snowfall for atleast 5-7 months. This place is an emerging tourist destination and is known for its wilderness. Torists mostly throng this place for the purpose of trekking. Alo the the place is known for its friendly tribes and its unique culture which is in complte sync with its natural beauty and grandeur.

How to reach

By Road : This place can be accessed from either Chamba or Lahaul. From Chamba, it is about 170 kilometres while from Lahaul it is about 130 kilometres. 
By Rail : Railways is not a very good medium to reach this place. Pangi is located in a remote place, so your best bet is to reach either Chamba or Lahaul.
By Air : Nearest airport is located at Shimla, located 128 kilometres away. Tourist can hire cabs or board a bus from there as well.

  • Summer is the best time to visit this place as the snow melts and the roads to Pangi becomes accessible.

  • Some small eateries are there at pangi which serves local and North Indian dishes. Pangi is a developing tourist site so tourists can also carry some food from Chamba itself.

  • Killar : This place is famous for its rich natural beauty and is also a camping site for those who intends to trek to Kishtwar. 
    Dharwas : Located 9 kilometres from Killar, this place is known for its natural spring which is rich in natural resources and also for its forests which are rich in hazel nuts and pine nuts. 
    Mindhal : It is famous for its beautifully carved and decorated temple dedicated to the local deity- Mindhal Devi. Located close to Pangi, this place is also famous for its scenic beauty and greenery.
    Apart from these, some other sites that one must visit are- Parmar Valley, Huddan Valley and Sural Valley.

  • - Enjoying its proximity to famous ranges like the Zashkar mountain range, and blessed with multiple mountain passes, this place is very popular with trekking enthusiasts and mountaineers.
