About Panjim

Panjim is the capital of Goa. when the old Goa grew unsanitary with disease in the 18th century the capital was shifted to Panjim. This land never gets flooded. David Menezes the late city planner remarked this place as "a gift from God". It lies on the banks of the Mandovi river. This place is also known as "the prince of Mandovi".this Panjim or Panaji is simply called "ponjje" by Goans.


How to reach

By Air :Dabolim is the nearest air station to this place.
By Rail :The closest rail station is Karmali. Margao is also another railhead.
By Road :The Kadamba bus terminus is the closest bust station from this place.

  • December-February is the peak time to visi this place.

  • Rice with the fish curry is the prime dish of goa. coconut and coconut oil vastly used in Goan cuisine along with spices, chilli pappers and vinegar.

  • In Panjim all roads are connected to the church square. Opposit of the church Municipal Garden is located. Panjim is a beautiful refference of portuguese architecture.

  • Here you can catch up musical shows dramas and many more at open air theatre at the Kala academy. Here you can find cashew nuts with various varieties, spiced, roasted and different flavoured. How can one forget about the famous Goan liquor Feni.
