Apart from the commonplace sites like- Shimla, Kullu and Manali, Parwanoo is another place where one can feel the homely atmosphere as well as the ambiance of a hill station at the same time. Located just across the Haryana border, this place is known for its vast orchard gardens and its food processing units. This place is also an ideal site for outdoor adventures like- trekking and hiking. One can also find some solace in the midst of the greenery of this place. Once a sleepy town, Parwanoo is rapidly transforming into an industial hub and a tourist hotspot.

How to reach

By Road : This small town is well connected with neighbouring cities and tourist spots like- Chandigarh, Shimla, Kullu and Dharamshala. State government buses are easily available from these cities. 
By Rail : Kalka is the nearest station, which is located only 5 kilometres away. From the station, one can either walk or hire a cab. 
By Air : Nearest airport is at Chandigarh, located 32 kilometres away and at Shimla, located 75 kilometres away.

  • The months between March to May and October to November is the best time to visit this place. The weather remains relatively calm and conducive for a nice outing.

  • Being a flourishing tourist spot, this place houses a good number of eateries and restaurants. They serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, alog with the local ones.

  • Timber Trail : It is one of the most sought after locations in the whole of Parwanoo as it offers a Cable car ride through the Shivalik Range. It is perhaps the best way to appreciate the beauty of this region as well as the Himalayas in its entirety. 
    Dagshai : Once this place used to serve as a British cantonment area. Today, surrounded by pine forests, this place is one of the few places which stands witness to the Victorian architecture. 
    Gorkha Fort : Founded by legendary Gorkha fighter Amar Singh Thapa, this fort stands today, exhibiting its indomitable strength. From war to natural calamities, this fort faced every kind of hostilitie and stood tall. 
    Pinjore : Located 11 kilometres from parwanoo, this place is a complete package in itself. Located in the midst of nature, this place will give you a feel of a resort.

  • - While you are at parwanoo, do consider visiting the nearby orchard gardens, also there are some beautiful picnic spots in the vicinity.
    - One can spend the evening by visiting the nearby shopping centres. From there one can collect a few pieces of souvinirs before heading out for your next destination.
