Pin Valley National Park is located in the Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. It is a site where one can view the drastic of landscape variations- the lush green top of Kullu Valley, which seems like a crown studed with jewels during night time and the hanging glaciers and snowfields, which dazzles during the day. Till date, this place has largely survived the onslaughts of time. 


How to reach

By Road : Manali-Rohtang Pass is the most common route which is used to reasch this place. During the time of winter, tourists can also use the Shimla-Tapri-Kaza route. 
By Rail : Shimla station is the nearest one located 440 kilometres away. Tourists can easily get a buse from this place. 
By Air : Nearest airport is at Bhuntar in the Kullu district. Cabs are available from the terminus as well.

  • When to visit
  • The months between May to October is the best time to visit this place. The weather remains dry and cold during this time of the year.

  • Some small eateries are there around this place that serves local and North Indian cuisines. Tourists can also choos to carry their own food.

  • Attractions
  • Flora : Major floral variety available in this region includes- Bhojpatra Bhutal, Salix Spp and many more. Dwarf juniper scrubs and dry alpine are some of the major forest types seen in this area. 
    Fauna : Pin Valley National park is homr to a large congregation of extremely rare and vulnerable species of animals. The list of these animals is glorified by the presence of- Wooly Hare, Snow Leopard, Tibetan Gazzele, Himalayan marmot, Indian Porcupine, Tibetna Wild Ass, Wooly Flying Squirrel and many more.

  • Activities
  • - Apart from exploring the wilderness of the park, tourists also have the choice to visit the nearby Dhankar Gompa and Tabo Gompa. Both of these are extremely popular place for Buddhist worship.
    - Forest safari is a nice option, if you have a knack for adventure. A good DSLR will help you get some really cool pictures.
