About Sangla

Nestled in the laps of the sprawling evergreen forests and bound by strapping mountain slopes with snow-covered peaks, Sangla is the other name of heavenly beauty minus the jostlings of an over-crowded city. The red apple orchards and gardens of luscious cherry trees are something that sets this place apart from other towns. This place is home to several attractions like- forts and temples. There are some small villages in this region which are equally beautiful.


How to reach

By Road : Regular buses are available from major towns like- Shimla and Delhi. Shimla is the nearest major town. One can find cabs from here as well. 
By Rail : Shimla houses the nearest railway station. From here, one can either hire a cab or board a bus to reach Sangla.
By Air : Jubbarhatti airport in Shimla (240 kilometres) and Dehra dun airport (126 kilometres) are the nearest ones. From both the places, one can get buses and cabs.

  • Tourists can visit this place throughout the year. However, it must be taken into consideration that the winters here are really harsh. Summer temperatures are quite pleasant.

  • Kamru Fort : Once a proud repository of artistic perfection, today this place has been converted into a temple dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya Devi. 
    Bering Nag Temple : Considered to be one of the most holiest temples by the Hindus, this temple is dedicated to Lord Jagas. 
    Sangla Meadow : This is a vast land which has some small patches of mud and grass. The backdrop of this meadow is adorned by the lofty Himalayan mountain ranges. 
    Chitkul Village : Located 28 kilometres from the centre of the town, this small village lies on the Indo-Tibetan border. This scenic village is a treat to the eyes.

  • - Sangla is nothing short of a complete tour package. Here you can get the best of history and nature at the same time. The banks of the Baspa river are perfect for a small picnic. Here you can also spend some romantic moments with your loved ones. 
    - Sangla also brings in some good news for all the shopaholics. There are numerous shopping centres in Sanglas which sell some quality handicrafts. 
    - The Tibetan Wood Carving Centre is another shopping centre that exclusively sell Tibetan products which are made exclusively from wooden carvings.
