Unakoti - Tourist Places of Tripura

About Unakoti

Unakoti is a sacred destination of Tripura situated in between hills that go through an area covered by greenery where statues, relics, and idols are carved out of stones, and rocks which date back to the ancient times. The rock carvings are natural and are surrounded by small streams and a beautiful landscape. Here one of the biggest bas-relief sculptures in India is found including stone carved idols and relics of gods and goddesses like Shiva, Parvati. Legends say that Shiva had cursed other gods to become stones because they all failed to wake up before sunrise to depart for Kashi and from then these sculptures are here.
