About Ubbalamadugu Falls

Popularly known as ‘Tada Falls’, located in the Tada subdivision of the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh, near the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border, the Ubbalamadugu falls lies in a lush green surrounding known as Sidduliah kona or the Kambakam forest in the midst of a rocky terrain, and a path lined by streams, wild shrubs, and a steep climb. The waterfalls fall from a height of 100 metres into a small pool where tourists can enjoy the clear water.

How to reach

By air : The nearest airport is in Chennai which is about 92 kms from the waterfalls. 
By rail : trains pass through the town of Tada from Chennai central railway station. From Tada railway station, the falls is about 29 kms by road. 
By road : The nearest towns are Tada (29 kms), Srikalahasti (45 kms), Tirupati (85 kms). From these towns, buses, taxis, private cars are available to the check post through which the falls can be entered.

  • When to visit
  • The best time to visit and enjoy the cascading waterfalls is during the months of September to February, when the weather is comfortable for trekking along the rugged path to the falls.

  • What to eat
  • As commercialization has not yet entered here, one can buy snacks or groceries in Tada town on their way to the ‘ubbalamadugu falls’. It is advisable to carry a bottle of water and fill it along the way from the little streams towards the falls.

  • Attractions
  • The nearest attractions in ‘Tada falls’ are- 
    - Varadaiah palem, the last human settlement, situated about 12 kms from the waterfalls. The path from this village to the falls check post is rocky, muddy and suitable for trekking, or for high ground clearance vehicles. 
    - Pulicat Lake, the second largest brackish water lake or lagoon in India. 
    - Oneness temple, located in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, about 3 kms from Tada.
    - Chengalamma temple in Sullurpeta town of Andhra Pradesh, the speciality of this temple is that it does not have any doors. 
    - Siddhaliah temple is situated on the way to the falls dedicated to lord Shiva. The forest is named after this temple.

  • Activities
  • - The most popular activity near the waterfalls is trekking along the difficult path to reach the falls, the 240 metres long canopy walk also makes the trekking difficult and a favourite for adventure lovers who love rushing their adrenaline. Birdwatching, camping are other popular activities enjoyed by tourists here.
